Our Dental Clinic Offers Childsmile Services

 

Childsmile is a national programme designed to improve the oral health of children in Scotland and reduce inequalities both in health and access to dental services.

The programme is also designed to welcome the children to the dental environment from a young age to promote dental health and reduce dental decay.

Extended duty dental nurses (EDDN’s) are trained in oral health promotion and fluoride varnish application to support the dental team to provide Childsmile care.

This includes oral health advice, weaning advice, teething advice and toothbrush instruction.

We also provide free dental packs, twice yearly fluoride varnish applications to children’s teeth from 2 years of age.

Families can book an appointment directly at the practice or by referral from a dental health support worker.
